Well what do you know, I built my first website folks!!! That’s what I’m talking about! Again, thanks to Anthony.

I watched the video and used the work sheets. There are just a few places where a little bit of speed talking is going on so just make sure you are listening well.

The video was very nice and the flyovers scenes were great and good timing as well.

Congratulations, Jeff! I can appreciate the comment about the Speed talking (I am from Brooklyn, New York ya know!)

Because of all the steps involved, it may seem like you are drinking from a Fire Hose, but don’t fret – watching the video straight through one time will give you a good bird’s eye view, as well as the handouts which will help walk you through each step in the proper order.

And yes, you have to do them in the right order :-) I likened it to building a car – you can’t press the gas pedal until you have put in the engine first :-)

How has your first web building experience gone? Let us know in the comments or in the forum so we can celebrate!

    Hey Anthony,
The website is coming along well. I am making a few change (i.e. changing the background, the little things, and I wrote a little bit of a blog). I want to make a blog site and write about my “past” experiences in Mexico as a missionary so that I can hopefully be of some help to someone wondering what it’s about. Even though it will be from a historical standpoint but still informative for someone looking and maybe help them to get some answers.

    L8R,
    Ozmann

  4. Brian Scott McFarlane says:

Are you going to do anything on page load speed for WP?

  5. Anthony says:

    Hey Brian!

Indeed, Performance tuning and testing is on the list of curriculum at TheWPDojo. It’s a very important topic!

You should have just received the November WPDojo Newsletter in which I outlined three new series I will be writing. That sounds like a great Brown Belt / Black Belt series to start right after those three conclude.

Performance is an important factor in Google Search rankings as well as your hosting performance – if your site is slow, Google won’t rank you as high. If your site takes up too many resources, your host will get a little cranky at you, and even shut down your account if it is impacting other sites on a shared server. So for medium-to-large trafficked sites, managing Page load Speed and how to improve it are important skills to have.

Thanks for your comment, and thanks for joining TheWPDojo!

Be sure to introduce yourself on the forum and let us know what kind of work you are doing and what you hope to learn!
